Acadiana’s Healthcare Future

Lafayette General Health is merging with Ochsner Health to truly improve the health of Louisianans and people across the Gulf South.

Our reality is that Louisiana is the least healthy state in the country, but together, we know we can tackle the pressing needs of the people we serve head on. By combining our resources and talent, we will be able to provide better access to healthcare here in Acadiana and continue growing our local economy. We continue to make strong progress towards joining together, having recently reached a Shared Mission Agreement (or definitive agreement).

As the largest and most comprehensive healthcare provider in the Gulf South, together, our combined organization will improve access to high quality healthcare across the region. Lafayette General Health will anchor services as the regional healthcare hub in Southwest Louisiana, and Ochsner will invest $464 million in capital and resources in Acadiana over the next 10 years to:

Expand and enhance clinical services so patients can receive care locally.

Increase access to care for all patients, regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay.

Strengthen training and education for Lafayette General Health employees, providers and caregivers.

Grow jobs and increase minimum pay for Lafayette General Health employees

Advance digital innovation and patient-centered solutions.

Maintain local control to ensure Lafayette General Health continues to be a cornerstone of the region.
